  • Why Zanaa: I decided to intern with ZanaAfrica because I wanted to understand how non-profits work to uproot long-standing problems such as poverty and access to resources. Also, I wanted to see for myself how effective non-profits really are, and whether or not they are veritable forces of change. This is because I am considering working in the non-profit sector post-graduation. In the coming days, I hope to perform field work, meet with locals, and see safari animals.

Bio:

I was born in Brooklyn, New York and I have lived there ever since. However, after high school, I decided that I wanted to leave the Big Apple and instead, experience life in a more tranquil, suburban environment.

I am currently studying in my third year of university. The college that I attend welcomes about 2500 students and it is truly a nurturing place to study and to develop as a person. It is there that I have learned and challenged myself the most and there that I have met inspiring and life-long friends.

More recently, I have had the fortune of studying abroad in Bordeaux, France for a semester, or the equivalent of four months. That was my first visit to Europe and now, I am experiencing my first trip in Africa.
