Forever550 is our campaign to expand our ZanaAfrica family and achieve our goals for girls’ educational attainment through sustainable provision of sanitary pads.
We are seeking 550 individuals or groups to each commit $550 per year this year and the next two years. You will forever go down in history as our founding “family” members, those who believed in us when we most needed it and invested in us when it was most timely.
And we will treat you as investors, providing quarterly updates, and working hard to ensure our targets are met. We want to encourage people to demand more of charities in terms of reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and accountability, and we will endeavor to model that for you. If we fall short, we’ll tell you why, and will welcome your feedback.
Some of our targets include:
- 288,000 girls receiving supplies of sanitary pads, every year by 2012
- 465,000 women using our sanitary pads
- 250 salesmoms who are keeping the resources in the villages, each making $100 profit/month
- Scaling Empowerment Clubs to 1,000 students/month by 2012
- Eco-friendly manufacturing across the value chain, modeling responsible, off-the-grid manufacturing in Africa
- Launching a franchise in another Sub-Saharan country to prove the model for replication by 2015
- Creating an endowment from the profits so we can expand our work without ever having to ask for donations again
- A blog-based website where you can interact with us to your comfort level and follow our journey (got it already!)
- Quarterly newsletters giving you a concise picture of how we are doing towards achieving our goals

That’s great! Here are two ideas:
- Pay up front: $1650 may not seem so huge, but its impact will be. The faster we can raise funds now, the easier our path will be to implementation
- Challenge yourself on how many units you can give away to family and friends as gifts for birthdays and holidays
