Women Are Not Objects

“Objectification” is such a muddled way of speaking about these things.

Some men think that their sexual desires are more important than the feelings of those to whom their desire is directed. Some actually see violating the dignity of others as itself an erotic thing to do. And many are just rather insensitive to what’s appropriate in various contexts and with different people. But how is this “thinking of women as objects”?

A sadist who tortures a woman wants her to feel dread, wants her to feel humiliation, wants her to suffer and scream. He could NOT gratify those evil and perverse desires on a blow up doll or a mannequin.

A pushy guy at a bar wants a woman to see him as a sexy stud. He wants her to stroke his ego and flatter his manhood. Objects cannot do that either.

You’re not going to understand the psychology of male (mis)behavior as long as you stick to these misleading cliches.
